I decide to try my hand at sewing clothing. I thought I would start out with something fairly easy (not to many curves) so I found a skirt pattern I loved and went at it. I started with a skirt for myself. It is Barcelona by Amy Butler. I made a ton of mistakes but it is wearable and it feels just like I wrapped a quilt around my legs when I wear it. After making this skirt I had a little more confidence and decided to try out a skirt for Miss Tayla. I wanted something ruffly and girlie for Miss T. So I picked up Gracie by Portabellopixie at Material Girl when we were in Grand Island, NE last weekend. If you love fabric and are in Grand Island I highly recommend stopping in this shop. It is super cute, I could spend hours in there. Anyhow, when we got home I decided to do a test skirt before I tried to make the one for Talya. This is a 3T skirt (I have no idea who will end up getting this skirt because Miss T is a size 6 and a good friend of mine from work has a little girl who is a 4T/5T...) I wanted to try out a smaller size and work out all the errors I would encounter before I made a wearable one for Miss T's birthday. The crazy thing is I think this might actually be wearable and not fall apart after the first wash. I did learn a ton of things making this skirt and hopefully when I make Miss T's skirt it will be better and stand up for all the things a Kindergartener will do, such as checking out ones hair in the mirror several times a day.
